“I Won’t Lodge Complaint Because Banks Now Kidnap” – Portable Laments Inability To Transfer, Withdraw From Account

Nigerian singer Portable, also known as Habeeb Okikiola, took to social media on Friday to express frustration with his First Bank Nigeria account.

In a video shared on platform X, the singer revealed that for over a month, he has been unable to transfer funds or withdraw money from his account, despite regularly receiving deposits.

Portable, in his heartfelt video, explained that while he had initially planned to lodge a complaint, he refrained from doing so out of fear, citing reports of kidnappings at banks.

“I won’t lodge complaint because banks now kidnap,” he said, expressing concerns for his safety while trying to resolve the issue.

The artist, known for his music career, emphasised that the funds in his account are legitimate. “I have money, billions of money. I don’t do scam. I do music for a living,” he stated, insisting that there should be no reason for his access to be restricted.

“Money enters my account daily by daily. If there is no issue, money should enter,” he added.

Portable further pleaded for urgent assistance from First Bank Nigeria, clarifying that he had been unable to use his account for crucial transactions.

“Please, First Bank Nigeria, I own the money. The money is my money. I keep the money in your account,” he said.

He also noted that he has no other bank account and no legal issues that should hinder his ability to access his funds.

The singer also expressed confusion about why his account remains blocked despite having resolved any personal issues.

“Maybe I have some kind of issue with people, with court, police, all those kind of things. We have solved the issue. No issue again,” he stated.

Portable ended his video with a plea for his account to be restored, emphasising his right to access the funds in his account. “Please, open my bank. First Bank account. Open it,” he urged.

At the time of publication, First Bank Nigeria has yet to publicly comment on the situation.
