The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said he is a stepping stone to the actualisation of a president of Igbo extraction in Nigeria if voted in 2023.
Atiku stated this in Awka, the Anambra State capital, when he flagged off his campaign for the South East zone.
He said, “ I am going to be the stepping stone for Igbo man presidency in this country. I have done that through my character, language and action over the years. If you really want to produce the president of this country, vote for the Atiku/Okowa ticket.”
Atiku said he would build all the erosion sites and dredge the Onitsha river port to make it more functional.
Atiku, a former vice president, expressed satisfaction with the turn-out of the people of the state, saying he never expected such a crowd.
Earlier, Atiku met with the Anambra traditional rulers and promised to unite Nigerians by treating each zone equitably.
He said, “My vision and mission as the president is to unite Nigeria, bring peace and provide adequate security for the people of Nigeria. I will give every section its due right.”
Speaking at the meeting, the chairman of Anambra State traditional rulers, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, said the monarchs were non-partisan and would only support whoever wins the election.
