The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has strongly condemned the recent killings in Plateau State, describing them as senseless, reprehensible, and a grave threat to national peace and security.
This came after his visit to the state on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, preliminary investigations have led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the Bokkos attacks.
They are currently assisting with ongoing investigations as efforts intensify to apprehend other culprits and uncover the motives behind the violence.
Following the IGP’s visit, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, has been directed to coordinate operations on the ground.
He has since conducted aerial surveillance of affected areas including Bassa and Bokkos, and is actively engaging local stakeholders to rebuild public confidence and assure residents of police presence.
In response to the situation, the IGP has ordered immediate deployment of additional police personnel and resources to bolster rapid response, patrol high-risk zones, and proactively prevent further violence. On-the-ground assessments are underway to ensure strategic deployment of these resources.
The IGP has assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force remains fully committed to restoring peace and order in Plateau State.
He urged the public to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and share useful information that could support ongoing investigations.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed the police’s resolve to bring all perpetrators of the attacks to justice.
