The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), bringing an end to months of internal disputes and power struggles within the party.
According to INEC’s updated records, Senator David Bonaventure Mark is now confirmed as National Chairman, while Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola assumes the role of National Secretary. Other newly recognized national officers include:
- Dr Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, National Treasurer
- Akibu Dalhatu, National Financial Secretary
- Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, National Legal Adviser
The recognition follows months of uncertainty after a factional crisis that began in July, when the party’s National Executive Committee named Mark interim chairman. Some party members reportedly delayed INEC approval by failing to submit necessary documentation, including ratifying NEC meeting reports and specimen signatures .
Stakeholders welcomed INEC’s decision as a step toward stabilizing the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections, offering the opposition party a unified leadership and clearer direction .
