Grammy Award winner, Damini Ogulu, famously known as Burna Boy has revealed that he knew he had become a big artiste after a concert in 2014.
The ‘Last Last’ crooner said that was the first time he did a show in a stadium in the South-Eastern region of Nigeria and the way fans showed up in multitude made him realise he was popular.
Speaking with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Burna noted that South-East mostly like artistes from the region so it was a big deal for an outsider to be accepted by them.
The Afrobeats star said he had never seen that type of love before and he did not think it was real.
In response to a question about when he knew he was well-known, Burna said; “2014, that’s the first time I did a show in a stadium the eastern part of Nigeria.
“They only like their own people, so if you’ve crossed over there and you’re not from there then you know you have popped.
“I have never seen anything like that, I didn’t even think it was real (laughs) It was a real thing that could happen.”
