Iweka road project, first class development; says Nwafor

The chairman Committee on works of Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Nwafor said the Moore street to Iweka road project is one of class one development of Mr Governor to bring about a mega city that would be run with twenty four hours power supply.

Mr Emmanuel made these statement following on the spot accessment visit to the site by the committee on October 27 with the members of the committee.

‘They promised the Mr Governor that a carnival would be held at this particular Iweka road by the end of the year. We came here for on the spot accessment and from what we have seen, work is going on, equipments are moving and they are working to specification

‘The quality of their work is good and commendable. The width of the road, carriage way and drainages are to standard

‘We believe they will deliver accordingly and and in no distant time. They are areas we have marked for reinforcement and the people here confirmed they are aware there will be a walk away which might affect their shops’, the chairman noted.

The honourable member representing Onitsha South 1, Mr Fredrick Ezenwa expressed satisfaction with the quality of work noting that they are working according to specification.

‘We don’t want them to slack back in their work because they assured us to deliver the project by end of the year, this road is very strategic to my constituents

‘This road is the gateway to Onitsha, the pride of the State and it connects directly from upper Iweka into main market and we are happy it’s been dualized’, Mr Fredrick said.

The project manager Zhongtian Construction Nigeria Limited (ZTC), Mr Abiola Akolawale noted they are working tirelessly to make sure they deliver in fashionable time and because it’s a dual carriage.

‘Its not easy working on this particular road because it’s a major hub linking different markets in the State

‘We are trying to work in corporation with the sellers and residents of the area, we work day and night to make up for the lost time caused by the rains

‘We are also looking at hosting a carnival here so the people of Anambra can come here and celebrate the good work of Mr Governor.

‘By the end of 2023, we will see a new Iweka road down to Moore street. We are at earth work stage, after which we go into stabilization of the road and do the final asphalt

‘For the drainages, we will not remove completely the existing ones because we are distilling as we work but they are some parts of the drainage we have to put to shape and reinforce so that the walk away can sit well’, Mr Abiola asserted.

The honourable members representing Anaocha 2 constituency Mr Ejike Okechukwu, Mr Patrick Udoba (Anambra West), Mr Golden Iloh (Ihiala 2) were present and unanimously supported the submissions of the chairman.
