Iwuanyanwu: Igbo Nation Losing Icons In Quick Succession: Umeh

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Victor Umeh has mourned the passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Sen. Umeh while lamenting over the death of Iwuanyanwu at an event in Ngodo, Nise, on Thursday, said the nation is losing its icons in quick succession

Umeh described Iwuanyanwu’s death as a tragic loss, saying he died while serving the Igbo nation.

He listed notable figures like George Obiozor, Ogbennaya Onu, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Alex Ekwueme, Ben Nwabueze, amongst others as those who had passed away recently.

ANN gathered that Iwuanyanwu, 82, passed away on Thursday after a brief illness, according to a statement by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu. He was a renowned figure, serving as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly.

He is survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, and many children and grandchildren.
