Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has publicly addressed the ongoing rift involving colleagues Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, saying she made repeated efforts to broker peace between both parties before tensions resurfaced.
In a lengthy statement shared on social media, Ojo said she had previously intervened in the dispute, admitting past missteps while emphasising reconciliation efforts. “Funke and I have been friends for the longest… I once came online to drag Funke… that was a wrong move on my part,” she said, adding that they later resolved their differences.
Ojo explained that she went as far as appealing to both actresses to maintain peace, noting, “I cried, knelt down, begged both parties to embrace peace, which they both later did.” She said the agreement included a condition that disagreements would be handled privately and not aired online.
However, she said tensions resurfaced months later following remarks linked to a film release, which reignited public speculation and accusations. According to her, “some fans pointed accusing fingers towards Funke, that sparked up a fresh beef.”
Addressing her own film project, The Return of Arinzo, Ojo said Toyin Abraham was initially expected to feature but withdrew at short notice due to fatigue and travel commitments. “She said she was exhausted… so she pulled out last minute,” Ojo said, admitting the decision caused production challenges but was later resolved.
The actress expressed disappointment over the renewed conflict, stating she would no longer intervene. “At this point, I can’t beg anyone anymore. I honestly don’t want to get involved anymore,” she said, while urging the public to respect her decision.
Ojo concluded by calling for patience, suggesting that reconciliation remains possible if both parties are willing. “When both parties are ready, they will make peace,” she said, adding that she continues to support both actresses.
The statement comes amid renewed public attention on relationships within Nollywood, with fans closely following developments surrounding the high-profile figures.
