John Mikel Obi Accuses ‘Cheating’ Arsenal of ‘Illegal’ Set-Piece Tactics

Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta, claiming the Premier League leaders are employing “illegal” methods during set pieces and corner kicks in their bid for the title.

The 37-year-old, speaking in a recent interview, accused Arsenal of systematically impeding goalkeepers and holding opposition players to prevent them from jumping.

“Arsenal are trying to cheat their way into winning the Premier League! Week in, week out!” Mikel said.

He added: “Arsenal’s football is illegal! What they are doing during set pieces and corner kicks is illegal! They are impeding the goalkeeper, they are holding opponent players to prevent them from jumping!”

Mikel’s outburst comes as Arsenal maintain a strong challenge at the top of the table, with their set-piece prowess frequently highlighted as a key strength under Arteta.
