The former husband of actress Judy Austin, Mr Obasi, has reacted to a reported N1 billion lawsuit filed against him, insisting he will continue speaking publicly until he gains access to their children.
In a statement, Obasi dismissed the suit and rejected claims of defamation, saying he was only recounting events that occurred between them.
He alleged that Austin travelled from Enugu to meet him in Nkpor, Onitsha, where they lodged at Harrison Hotel on New Market Road.
“Did you travel to Enugu to come to Nkpo to see me? The answer is yes. Did we lodge in Hotel Harrison, New Market Road, Nkpo, second floor? Did we lodge there? The answer is yes,” he said.
“Did we talk about a lot of things and make love, and the next morning we went to Mr Bigg’s to buy some things for our children? The answer is yes.”
Obasi accused Austin of hiding and manipulating their children, noting that according to her own lawsuit, the last time he called her was in 2018.
“Why are you hiding my children from me? Why are you manipulating those children? That is the question,” he said.
He maintained that the lawsuit would not deter him.
“Do you think that lawsuit can scare me away from asking for my children? The answer is no. You don’t know me very well. I’m the type of person that, when I determine on something, I determine it in two ways. It’s either I have my children or I go to jail.”
Obasi added that he had already instructed his tailor to prepare prison clothes for him if necessary.
“I’m not scared of prison because I have already made up my mind… I will be speaking till I put on that clothes and go to jail.”
He argued that stating the truth could not amount to defamation and vowed to keep speaking until he is reunited with his children.
