- A former coach of the Super Falcons, Ismaila Mabo, has died at the age of 80.
His death was announced by his younger brother and a former Golden Eaglets star player, Salisu Nakande Mamuwa in the early hours of Monday.
Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihir rajiāun , i just lost my elder brother these morning, Coach Mabo Ismaila , former Chief Coach of Super Falcons of Nigeria, may Aljanna Firdausi b his final abode, Ameen thumma Ameen, āhe wrote.
Ismaila was the head coach of the senior womenās national teamĀ at theĀ 1999 FIFA Womenās World Cup,Ā 2000 Summer OlympicsĀ andĀ 2004 Summer Olympics.
He led Nigeria to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, the teamās best ever result.
It was gathered that his funeral rites would hold late on Monnday in Jos, Plateau State.
