Friends and well-wishers gathered in Awka to celebrate the impactful life of Justice Godwin Ononiba who celebrated his eighty-eight birthday and launched a book about his journey in life titled’ Wisdom On The Bench. Enduring Legacy Of Justice Godwin Ononiba,”.

Justice Ononiba retired as a Chief Judge of Anambra State, held so many positions, and is still the current Traditional Prime Minister of Nimo, Njikoka Council Area, his home town.
Felicitating the men of bench and bar as well as the Ononiba family, Governor, Chukwuma Soludo said it rare to see people who pen down their journey and experiences in life for others to toe and emulate and extolled the celebrant’s impact in the judicial system where he put in more energy to better the judicial system of the state and as well eager to write at the age of eighty-eight.
Soludo further described the state judiciary as the most hardworking in the country asking them to follow the footsteps of Justice Ononiba to be transparent, honest and just in all their dealings as they are the voice of the voiceless.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Justice Anthony Igu thanked God for longevity and wealth of knowledge bestowed on the celebrant which he used to impact people’s lives even as he appreciated the men and women who gathered for showing him love saying his humility and gentility have brought in someone who toed his part in the life of Justice Irene Ndigwe and other of his children.
Speaking on behalf of all the Senior Advocates Of Nigeria who attended the event, Dr Onyechi Ikpeazu revealed that the celebrant moulded them to be highly distinguished, honest, impeccable and men of integrity who have continued to sower higher in the judicial system praying to God for more life in good health.
In their separate speeches, State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, book presenter, Professor Ilochi Okafor, Dr Gab Menakaya and many others highlighted their journey with the celebrant and the importance of the book in the judiciary.
Appreciating all who gathered to honour their father, the celebrant’s daughter, Justice Irene Ndigwe noted the qualities their father was made of saying he is humble, gentle and honest to the core praying to God for more years ahead.
