Things have not been easy at Arsenal for Kai Havertz following his move from Chelsea in the summer.
It has been a difficult start to life at the Emirates for Kai Havertz and the forward has opened up about it in an interview with Arsenal’s official club website.
Since joining Arsenal from Chelsea, he has managed to score just one goal in the Premier League, which came from the penalty spot.
Havertz is also yet to register in the Gunners’ Champions League campaign. In a damning assessment, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent recently questioned why Mikel Arteta even signed him.
Kai Havertz on connecting with the Arsenal fans
Coming from Chelsea, one of Arsenal’s biggest rivals, Havertz does not think he has the trust of supporters at the Emirates yet.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official club website, the 24-year-old said: “It’s always tough when you come from Chelsea, because they are big rivals, so it can take weeks to get some trust from the fans.”
How should Chelsea fans feel about Kai Havertz?
From Chelsea fans’ perspective, Havertz really is not a player they have to think about anymore.
The German joined their rivals, but the club’s decision to sell him to the Gunners has not come back to haunt them yet.
In Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea also have a better goalscorer than their former attacker now. The Senegal international has looked raw at times, but he has still managed to score six goals in 11 Premier League outings, which includes a hat-trick against Tottenham.
Last term, Havertz managed to find the back of the net just seven times in 35 top-flight appearances. It is a tally Jackson could surpass this Saturday when Mauricio Pochettino‘s side travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United.
Havertz won Chelsea the Champions League in 2021 and then joined Arsenal a couple of years later. He is always going to be remembered at Stamford Bridge for the right and wrong reasons. But again, the former Bayer Leverkusen man is not someone Chelsea fans need to concern themselves about right now.
