Harry Kane scored two goals to lead Bayern Munich to a commanding 3-1 victory over Chelsea in their opening UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday at Allianz Arena.
Bayern took the lead after 20 minutes through an own goal by Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, before Kane doubled the score with a penalty in the 27th minute. Chelsea responded just two minutes later when Cole Palmer found the net, but Kane’s cool finish in the 63rd sealed the win for the hosts.
The win continues Bayern’s unbeaten run across all competitions as they begin their campaign with confidence. Chelsea, in contrast, suffered their first defeat this season.
