KIZZ DANIEL’S ROW IN TANZANIA: TO STARS AND WOULD BE STARS

Recently, there was pandemonium in Tanzanian International Airport over the failure of one of Nigeria’s hip-hop Superstars, “Kizz Daniel” to fulfilling a performance contract in an event he was invited. According to reports, the Superstar who has now agreed to perform at a newly scheduled date had refused to get on stage because the luggage containing some of his belongings he needed for the performance was yet to arrive from neighboring Uganda where he boarded his flight to Tanzania.

According to many commentators who shared their opinions on social media, the Superstar has in recent times shown some remarkable degree of nonchalance towards his business deals with fans and customers. A few are of the opinion   that the artist should be given the benefit of doubt considering that something beyond his control could have contributed to his not being to meet up with his own side of the contract. In this opinion article, I do not wish to be judgmental towards Daniel. We are all humans and therefore fallible.  Rather, I wish to pass a salient message that would be beneficial to all and sundry but particularly to budding stars and individuals who have risen to the pinnacle of their careers, and have attained the status of “Celebrity.”

IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE A STAR BUT EASY TO BECOME NOTHING

One of the most difficult things to do in life is to become a star. Even with all the talents in the world, it could take months and years to become a star, build an edifice, but that edifice could be destroyed without notice. Falling from a mountaintop of achievement into a valley of nothingness may happen within a twinkling of an eye. Celebrities as they are called should never forget how, when and from where they began.

Since pride goes before a fall, celebrities and in fact, anyone one who has achieved any form of prominence in life should endeavour to remain humble and dedicated to service. Yes, truth be told, work pressure can push someone into exhaustion and nonchalance but this is the more reason celebrities needs to work with a management team that would ensure they remain friendly, loving and available to their fans in a reasonable manner. Punctuality and performing at events to which they have been contracted should be a priority. Leaving for trips early, enough is necessary to avoiding delays or other unforeseen circumstances that may emerge.

It is better to ensure all logistics are in place and projects are executed with love and passion, than strategizing on how to go about controlling damages that have been done. In all, no one is perfect, being sorry as Kizz Daniel has expressed, and readiness to make right the wrong is a sign that the star will not only fly but would remain in the sky.
