Nigeria will host the 2026 CAF Awards in Lagos, the Confederation of African Football confirmed, marking the country’s first time staging the annual ceremony since 2015.
The event will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, one of Lagos’s leading cultural venues. CAF has yet to announce a specific date for the ceremony.
Nigeria is also scheduled to host the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in October, though it remains unclear whether the two events will coincide.
The CAF Awards honour outstanding performers across African football each year, recognising players, coaches, clubs and national teams from both club and international competitions. Categories traditionally include the best men’s and women’s players, goalkeepers, coaches and young talents, as well as top interclub performers, clubs, national teams and the best goal of the year.
The African Player of the Year award is expected to remain the headline prize of the evening.
The confirmation returns the ceremony to Nigeria after more than a decade, with Lagos set to welcome leading figures from across the continent’s football community. CAF is expected to release further details, including the official date and full list of categories, at a later stage.
