- Mmesoma was accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of forging her result.
- Chief Chibueze’s statement comes as questions resurface about the integrity of JAMB’s systems and how student grievances are handled, especially in Nigeria’s Southeast region.
Amid fresh concerns surrounding alleged JAMB result glitches affecting several students from the Southeast, Chief Gaius Chibueze, popularly known as the Founder of Voice of the East, has issued an official statement to clarify the current status of Mmesoma Ejikeme — the Anambra schoolgirl at the center of a national controversy in 2023.
In a detailed account released today, Chief Chibueze disclosed the extent of his intervention following the scandal that rocked the country nearly two years ago, in which Mmesoma was accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of forging her result.
The case attracted national attention and intense tribal discourse, with many questioning the fairness of JAMB’s subsequent decision to ban her from applying to Nigerian universities for three years.
“I, like many Nigerians, found it difficult to believe that such a young girl could be capable of what JAMB alleged,” Chibueze stated. “I publicly called for a thorough investigation to ascertain the truth.”
Moved by the fallout and perceived injustice, Chibueze vowed to take full responsibility for Mmesoma’s education and welfare — a promise he said he has fulfilled since 2023.
In December 2024, Chief Chibueze personally visited Mmesoma’s family in Enugu, marking his first trip to the state in nine years. He reiterated that all his actions were done in good faith with no political or personal motives.
“As of our last communication, Mmesoma is doing well and living with her family in Topland, Enugu,” Chibueze confirmed. “I am sharing this update publicly with supporting evidence because, as a public figure, people deserve clarity.”
He also provided her personal email (joymmesomaejikeme@gmail.com) for those who may wish to contact her directly.
