Market Demolition: No Structures Will Be Erected Without Approval: ANSPPB

The Chairman of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB)
Barrister Chike Mmaduekwe says, henceforth, all approvals for the building of new markets must be endorsed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo

Mmaduekwe made this known while reacting on the issue of the demolition of some shops at Nkwo Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area.

According to Mmaduekwe, Governor Soludo, during the last Anambra State Executive Council meeting, gave a strict directive that no structure should henceforth be constructed in any market without approval duly endorsed by him, noting that some structures in certain markets, including Obosi, have been demolished for violating the Governor’s directive.

He stated that many builders violate the law by failing to obtain the required approval, which must undergo certain processes from the day of application, as there are criteria they must meet before approval is granted, such as sand testing and other requirements, adding that most builders do not adhere to these rules before constructing new structures.

Barrister Mmaduekwe made it categorically clear that such actions will no longer be tolerated and warned prospective builders to obey the directive to the letter or risk having their buildings demolished.
