Marseille Stuns PSG with 1-0 Victory in ‘Le Classique’

Olympique de Marseille handed Paris Saint-Germain their first Ligue 1 defeat of the season with a 1-0 win in the rescheduled ‘Le Classique’ at the Stade Vélodrome. The match, initially postponed due to severe weather, proved to be a turning point in the French football season.

The decisive moment came in the fifth minute when Marseille’s Nayef Aguerd capitalized on a misjudged cross from PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, heading the ball into the net to give the hosts an early lead. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, PSG failed to find an equalizer. Marseille’s goalkeeper, Gerónimo Rulli, delivered a series of crucial saves, including one from Achraf Hakimi, while Gonçalo Ramos also missed a significant opportunity for the visitors.

This victory marks Marseille’s first home league win over PSG since 2011 and propels them to sixth place in the standings with nine points. Meanwhile, PSG remains on 12 points but slips to second place, allowing AS Monaco to take the top spot on goal difference.
