May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has publicly revealed the humble origins of her relationship with the actor, stating that they first met at a General Certificate Examination (GCE) center.
May Edochie, who has been separated from her husband since he took a second wife in 2022, shared the detail during a recent lifestyle podcast, emphasizing that their paths crossed long before fame.
A Meeting of ‘Bookworms’
The mother of three explained that she was an academically driven young woman at the time of their meeting. She had just relocated from Lagos to begin her degree at Enugu State University, while Yul Edochie was a student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
May Edochie stressed that the environment was far from glamorous, underscoring her commitment to education.
“Way back in school when I went to the East for my university, I’m a bookworm. It’s always been about books for me,” she said. “We didn’t meet at a party or any glamorous settings, we met at a GCE center.”
Her revelation offers a glimpse into the early life of the couple, whose highly publicized marital dispute has dominated Nigerian entertainment news for the past two years.
