Mbappe’s double hands Real Madrid 2-1 El Clasico win against Barcelona on Sunday, ending the hosts’ perfect start to the La Liga season.
Mbappe’s late strike at Camp Nou moved Real Madrid to within three points of league leaders Barcelona.
The French forward opened the scoring with a fortuitous goal shortly before half-time. Raphinha, La Liga’s top scorer with 13 goals this season, equalised for Barcelona.
In the closing stages, Jude Bellingham produced a sublime turn and spin before releasing Eduardo Camavinga, who charged into the box and cut the ball back for Mbappe to fire home the decisive goal.
Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho celebrated the winner by dropping to his knees in a knee-slide.
Barcelona made two changes from their midweek Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain, while Real Madrid made five alterations, with Andriy Lunin starting in goal in place of Thibaut Courtois and Vinicius Junior suspended.
The result marked a potentially significant shift in the title race, with Madrid claiming their first victory in the fixture this campaign.
