Mountain Top University is Committed to Research, Innovation: Olukoya

The Chancellor, Mountain Top University and the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, has said Mountain Top University (MTU) will continually commit to research and innovations to help extend the frontier of knowledge.

Olukoya who spoke, yesterday, at the fifth convocation ceremony of MTU, said the mission of higher education must be to create and advance knowledge.

He added that God enabled MTU in only eight years to become a dynamic centre of academic excellence, promising that the university will not relent.

He further said that MTU is striving to become the best university in Nigeria and one of the best in the world, enjoining all to pull resources, physical, spiritual and material to ensure that the university reaches its set goal, which is to get to the pinnacle of academic standard nationally and intentionally.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Elijah Ayolabi, underscored the university’s commitment and inclination to success, disclosing that the university has grown in leaps and bounds, which is evident in the uninterrupted academic progress.

In his convocation lecture, titled  ‘Optimising your potential in a challenging future” former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, called on Nigerians not to lose hope in spite of the ongoing economic challenges, stressing that Nigerians must challenge their minds to rise above the myriads of challenges facing the world today.

Udom said to achieve success there is need to fight against mediocrity, and build strategic relationships.

His words: “The world that we live in today is characterised by very high pace and scale of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.

“It is important to note that no nation is immune from the challenges of this present day. Many are losing hope because of the enormity of the unresolved issues being faced on daily basis. Many are filled with fear at the uncertainty of what the future holds. But hope is the one attribute we must never lose,”

The best graduating, Miss Iganya Ele-Ojo Judith, with CGPA 4.94, said God’s grace, hard work, diligence and steadfastness were key to success.
