The Chief Whip of the Anambra State house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Pete Ibida has described his journey as a lawmaker as one full of mixed feelings.
Ibida, who is the member representing Njikoka 2 constituency while speaking with correspondents after plenary revealed that the 7th assembly against all odds made remarkable impact.
The legislator stated that losing two members of the 7th assembly; Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, the member who represented Aguata 1 constituency and the majority leader, member who represented Awka South 1 constituency Hon. Nnamdi Okafor is a tragic and sad experience.
“We still give glory to God that most of us survived the attacks when there was insecurity. Some lawmakers, Hon. Fabian Ezenwune member representing Idemili South and Hon. Obinna Emeneka member representing Anambra East where victims of kidnapping but thank God they came back alive even though their cars were taken with other valuables.
“Some of us that contested election lost because our brother the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi’s band wagon swallowed us and favoured candidates from his party.
“Personally I’m leaving the 7th assembly as a hero because the rest of us survived by God’s grace. We are also going home with bruises because we are saddened not just because of our departed colleagues but also by the poor outing at the just concluded general election.
Speaking on the incoming 8th assembly members, Ibida advised that they should be organised, put themselves together and be sincere to themselves.
