Naira Crisis: Everyone has become poor – Kwankwaso

The redesign of the naira notes, according to New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, has rendered all candidates for political office impoverished.

The election will be simple for Mr. Kwankwaso to win now that he and his rivals have the same financial situation, he continued.

Speaking on Wednesday on a broadcast on Dandal Kura Radio in Maiduguri, Borno State, Mr. Kwankwaso said that people were making fun of him for not being wealthy enough to run for president.

He claimed that everyone has become poor as a result of the federal government’s economic strategy, including his opponents for the presidency.

“We’ve been hearing people ridiculing me saying Rabiu Kwankwaso doesn’t have money (for the campaign) today the president has made all of us poor in the contest. So we’re all poor and now the same,” Mr Kwankwaso said in Hausa.

Commenting about his possibilities, Mr. Kwankwaso claimed that while serving as a two-term governor, minister, and senator, he demonstrated his ability.

He claimed that because the parties have nothing new to offer, Nigerians will not vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential contender, was also made fun of by Mr. Kwankwaso, a former minister of defence, who claimed that he had previously defeated the former Vice President in a presidential election.
