N’Assembly Warns Staff Against Disrupting Plenary Over Welfare Demands

The National Assembly has cautioned its workers against any attempts to disrupt plenary sessions in protest over welfare issues, stating that such action would be unacceptable.

In a statement issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly, the legislature stressed that “any attempt to stall plenary is a disruption to the legislative process and cannot be justified under welfare demands.”

The warning follows reports that some staffers had threatened industrial action to press for better pay, allowances, and improved working conditions.

The legislative leadership said while it acknowledges the rights of workers to air grievances, those grievances must be addressed through “appropriate and non-disruptive channels,” the statement added.
