NDE Empowers 75 Unemployed Youths With Vocational Skills in Niger

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced training for 75 youth beneficiaries in the Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) under the Vocational Skills Development (VSD) Department in Minna, Niger state capital .

The Director General, NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by the state Coordinator NDE, Alhaji Mohammed Dantsoho Abubakar said that 3 participants were selected from each of the 25 local government areas of the  state who are expected to pick one, out of the 5 categories of the training skills provided.

stated this in his opening remarks during the official flag- off and orientation of the program going on simultaneously in 18 states of the federation.

The DG, in his opening remarks during the official flag-off and orientation for the program going on simultaneously in 18 states, urged the beneficiaries to put in the required attention in order to succeed in their training just as some of the trainees that performed outstandingly will benefit from starter packs to start their own businesses.

He explained that the training skills include; computer appreciation, hair dressing, bags making, fashion designing and catering services,  adding that the participants are expected to be given stipends to complement their transportation expenses.

The Director VSD Headquarters, Abuja, represented by Jamila Suleiman, appreciated the agency for its continuous programmes aimed at creating job opportunities to the teaming youths and women in the country.

She advised the participants to remain focused and committed to the training skills so as to be self employed and reliant hence the era of waiting for white collar jobs is no longer attainable in the society.
