New FRSC Corps Marshal Assumes Office, Pledges To Rejig Operations

The new Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed has assumed office with a pledge to rejig the operational strategy of the corps.

In his first address as FRSC Corps Marshal, Mohammed, who appreciated God and president Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, said a committee would be set up to review FRSC’s operational strategies to conform with present-day realities.

He also promised to ensure “training and retraining of staff to align with realistic expectations, while making our training institutions active throughout the year.”

The Corps Marshal further said he would pursue partnership with sister and relevant agencies and seek improved partnership with International agencies such as the United Nations, World Bank and World health Organization, while also boost collaboration with Special Marshals.

Mohammed also promised to establish a Technical Advisory Unit (TAU) to combine with the Corps Information Technology Office (CITO) for improved operations.

Speaking on improved staff welfare, Mohammed noted that there would be “harmonisation of the ranking structure and career progression while assuring to review FRSC Educational Policy by increasing number of slots for further studies.

He also pledged to ensure conducive working environment through provision of additional staff buses, creation of Strategic Business Unit (SBU) to boost FRSC’s Investment drive, resuscitation of sporting and recreational activities, encourage monthly walking and jogging exercise as well as Wednesday sports/games among others.

Recall that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on Monday, while decorating Muhammed, had tasked the newly appointed Corps Marshal to work towards the reduction of road traffic crashes.
