Street Aid Africa Foundation (SAAF) has Partnered Urum Development Union in Awka North Local government area of Anambra state to distribute clothings and wears to over 80 persons in the community.
SAAF, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) distributed cloths, shoes, hand bags, beads, bangles, children wears among others.
ANN reports that SAAF focuses on the United Nations Sustainable Developmental Goal which is to provide education and empowerment for children. Other programmes of the NGO initiative include: feed the street, impact school outreach, voiceless conference for amplifying socially and sexually sensitive issues and pad drive for female adolescents.
The leader of the team in Anambra state, Miss Divine Alex, said the items distributed were earlier donated by good spirited individuals after the founder of the NGO, Nancy Nwosu, showed interest in that regard.
According to her, the aim was to cloth people in rural communities who do not have the financial capacity to acquire those items from the market.
The President General of Urum Community, Chief Alloy Tabansi who alongside his Vice, Mr Anthony Akachukwu received the team to the community Civic Center, described the gesture as laudable.
According to him, at a time in the country when feeding has become a great challenge to many rural households, an NGO remembering to share cloths and wears to the people was highly commendable.
According to Tabansi, while the people struggle to find food to sustain their living, getting free clothing will no doubt ameliorate their stress and make them mingle with others with pride.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts in delivering road infrastructures in Anambra state especially Awka North Local government area even as he appealed for attention to the isuaniocha-Urum- Amanuke to Ugbene road, which also connects the people with Achalla, their local government headquarters.
Chief Tabansi noted that Urum as an agrarian town that make up Awka capital development territory, was looking forward to benefiting infrastructural development from the Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration.
