Nigeria Army Renew Synergy With NSCDC In Protecting National Assets In Anambra

Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has applauded the continued support of the Nigerian Army to NSCDC in the discharge of its statutory mandates.

Commandant Maku made this statement when he received the Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Cantonment Onitsha, Col. Butrus Yakubu, and his team on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters, Awka.

Commandant Maku underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in promoting peace, stability, and operational effectiveness in the state.

The NSCDC State boss disclosed that the NSCDC and the military have had a long history of collaboration, including training of personnel, and joint operations against vandalism of critical national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure, fight against illegal oil bunkering, and other activities.

He noted that synergy and collaboration were crucial as no single agency or institution can effectively eliminate crimes and criminality in society.

The NSCDC State helmsman assured the Army Commander of the sustenance and strengthening of the existing collaboration between both agencies.

In his speech, Col. Butrus Yakubu stated that the purpose of his visit was to familiarize himself with the NSCDC and to further seek collaboration in the areas of intelligence and information sharing, access to the Command when the need arises, and other necessary operational cooperation.

He stressed that synergy among security agencies is crucial for effective intelligence sharing, coordination, and swift response to emerging threats in the state.

“The Nigerian Army is committed to collaborating with and supporting the NSCDC whenever needed,” he said.

Col. Yakubu appreciated the NSCDC for its efforts and contributions through the Forward Operating Bases (FOB) in ensuring safety and security in the state.
