Media personality and reality show winner Uti Nwachukwu has cautioned against blaming Nigerian gay men who also marry women.
UTI gave his charge during a recent appearance on the Frankly Speaking podcasts to discuss sexual hypocrisy in Nigeria. The host, Chinedu Ani aka Nedu Wazobia had lamented on the alarming number of Nigerian gay men who deceptively marry women, asking that they stop faking their sexualities.
“You can’t blame these men,” Uti responded, noting that the LGBTQ community is not embraced in the Nigerian society.
“The problem is that if these men come out to tell them that this is how they are, they (women) are the first person to say things like “wasted man” or another woman loses a husband,” Uti said.
The TV personality also questioned women’s ‘sense of entitlement’ to males as husbands saying “It’s the audacity that you (women) think that men were created just so they could be your husbands.”
The single 39-year-old style icon emerged as the winner of Big Brother Africa in 2010.
