Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said on Thursday that the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, was been missed by the majority of lawmakers in the Senate.
Adamu resigned from the Senate after he emerged as the national chairman of the ruling party in March.
Oluremi, who led a delegation of women leaders on a ‘solidarity’ visitation to Adamu and the party’s National Working Committee, expressed confidence that her husband will consolidate on the achievements of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), once elected.
She said, “We are here today for the business of the day and to felicitate with the chairman because I have missed him so much in the Senate. So it is a thing of joy that we are here on a solidarity visit and to also intimate you of our activities.
“Despite knowing that the timetable is not yet out, I should come here and also tell you that we have been busy and quiet, but we want to intimate you about the activities.
“What the incoming administration needs to do is to consolidate all the works that President Muhammadu Buhari is doing and I can tell you that I’m not new in government.
“We have been there working. I believe that with what he has done so far, the next administration will be able to consolidate on that. But we are here to tell you that we Nigerian women are ready. I want to reassure the chairman that we are all ready to work and then whenever you need us, we are just a call away. We are ready to work and ensure victory for our party come 2023.
“The Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Women Council, that is what we are called. We are working but we want to also commend you for the great leadership you’ve given us and also for bringing respectability to our great party.”
Adamu thanked the Lagos senator, saying he was satisfied knowing that she and other women leaders are willing to stand by the party’s presidential candidate and running mate for the forthcoming election.
The APC national chairman further stated that he is a firm believer in the political capacity and nitty-gritty of APC women’s campaign council.
