Njikoka Mayor Embraces ICT-Driven Governance, Installs CCTV Cameras

The Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Ikechukwu Okakpu, has reaffirmed his commitment to integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the administration of the council to enhance efficiency, strengthen security and improve service delivery.

As part of the initiative, the Mayor has installed closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras within the local government premises and procured intercom systems for members of the executive team and the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) to improve internal communication and administrative coordination.

According to a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Mayor, Hon. Prince Chidolue John Clarence Nwankwo, the CCTV cameras are expected to strengthen surveillance and security across the council premises, while the intercom systems will facilitate faster communication among key officials.

The systems are also expected to enable officials to coordinate administrative activities more effectively and respond promptly to official matters.

The initiative forms part of the Mayor’s efforts to modernise the operations of Njikoka Local Government through practical technology-driven measures aimed at promoting accountability, improving administrative efficiency and strengthening service delivery.

The development reflects the administration’s focus on deploying available technological resources to enhance the day-to-day operations of the council and support a more coordinated approach to local government administration.
