Nanka Champions League Tournament has come to an end with Nkpor branch emerging the winners of the 2023/2024.
Angel Network News reports that Nkpor branch won the keenly contested trophy after defeating Umuahia branch with one goal to nothing.
The owner of Nkpor Branch, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo while speaking thanked God for giving his team victory in the tournament, appreciating the players for bringing out their skills and energy to win the game, and prayed God to keep blessing the sponsor of the Nanka Championship League, Professor Emenike.
The 2023/2024 Nanka Champions League final held at Neros Stadium Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area was kicked off by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Mr Ibrahim Gusau, and attracted spectators from across Anambra state and beyond.
Speaking through the Anambra state Chairman, Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria, Engineer Akonam Obiefuna, the sponsor of the league, Professor Emenike said his motivation in sponsoring the tournament for 40 years now is his love for the teaming youths and the community in general, and assured that he will still sponsor the game for another ten years before handing over to the younger generation.
In an interview, the Traditional Ruler of Nanka community, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo commended Professor Emenike for showing capacity and passion for the betterment of Nanka community, saying that God has used Professor Emenike and other illustrious sons and daughters of the community to transform and develop the community.
The Nanka Monarch, Igwe Ezeilo used the opportunity to encourage people of the state and Ndi Nanka in particular, to keep hope alive and work hard, as according to him this 2024 is a year that many will become billionaires through hard work, even as he asked the youths to abstain from crime as it does not pay but destroys.
Chairman Anambra State Football Association, Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi described football as the best antidote for youths’ restiveness, and called on government at all levels to invest more in the sports sector in order to get the youths engaged and curb crime and criminality among them for a better society.
