The member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife has called on women to participate actively in politics to stop gender inequality, strengthen governance and accelerate the nation’s development.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Nnabuife made the call during her outreach programme for women in her constituency organised by National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies in collaboration with the United Nations Women held in Ajalli, Orumba North local government area.
In her address, which centered on advancing Women’s Political Participation and Representation, the Federal legislator commended the resilience and potentials of women in her constituency, and regretted that less than five percent of women make up the National Assembly members and advocated for election of more women into political office as it enriches the nation’s democracy and empowers communities across the federation.
She pointed out that the programme serves as a platform to explore innovative strategies to empower women at the grassroots and equip aspiring leaders with necessary skills that will enable them to excel in leadership.
