… reaffirms support for Soludo ahead of November 8th
The Chairman of Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has debunk an allegation of demolition and extortion levelled against his administration by a section of rice traders at Agba Edo market Nnewi.
The debunk followed a video circulated online, in which a couple of market women alleged that their shops have been marked for demolition and each of them taxed to pay N3.1 million Naira for reallocation.
Reacting to an enquiry made by newsmen on Friday in his office, Hon. Anazodo dismissed the allegation as false, unfounded and a badly crafted politically orchestrated propaganda.
” This is not the first time this kind of thing is happening. Some time ago, this same group raised this kind of propaganda against government.
“Before now, that market was not accessible. My administration has tried so hard to revamp it but we are surprised seeing those videos because those allegations never happened.
“The state government awarded adiri road which is connected to building material road. The inner road of the market is almo completed.
“We have built hall, toilet and shops for low in-come earners. Drainages and erosion was controlled.
The Mayor while responding to questions from journalists, explained that his administration has no plan to demolish any structure at the Agba Edo market, neither has he taxed any market trader nor delegate anybody to do so on behalf of his administration.
According to him, his administration was not aware of any plan to demolish shops at the market.
The Mayor accused the opposition of sponsoring faceless people to peddle lies against the present administration, just to score a cheap political point.
He however advised the opposition to eschew bad politics, stating that the people of Nnewi are well aligned with the APGA government and have declared their unalloyed support for the second term bid of governor Chukwuma Soludo.
” Nnewi is already taken. With the giant strides of Governor Soludo in Nnewi North LGA, there is no need for campaign.
” We demonstrated it by voting massively in the last Senatorial election. On November 8th governorship election, we will vote for Soludo 100 percent.
He noted all the developmental interventions of his administration in the market, including construction of access roads, drainages, shops and toilet facilities were done and handed over for use by the traders at no cost.
The Nnewi North LG mayor challenged any trader, who has been levied or financially exploited by the local government to come forward with the receipt.
” Nobody paid a dime before taking any shop and there is no plans for any demolition.
“Ndi Nnewi under my watch has spoken. We have decided that we will not go opposition.
