NNPC Reaffirms Commitment to Completing Port Harcourt Refinery Rehabilitation

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reiterated its assurance that the ongoing rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery will be completed as planned.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the facility, NNPC Ltd.’s Executive Vice President for Downstream, Engr. Dapo Segun, stated that mechanical completion of the rehabilitation work is on track and would be delivered within schedule.

Segun emphasized that the work is being executed with international standards and best practices, noting that the scope of work is comprehensive and involves critical upgrades across various refinery units.

He added that restoring the refinery to full functionality remains a top priority for the Federal Government and aligns with broader energy security and economic objectives.

The Port Harcourt Refinery, when fully operational, is expected to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products, ease pressure on foreign exchange, and support the country’s journey toward energy self-sufficiency.

NNPC Ltd. says the project will be delivered in phases, with the first phase already recording significant progress.
