Non-Oil Exports Reach Record High in 2025

Nigeria’s non-oil exports surged to ₦12.36 trillion in 2025, marking a 36 percent increase from ₦9.09 trillion the previous year and more than quadrupling the 2022 figure of ₦3.14 trillion.

The sharp rise, recorded between January and December, reflects sustained government efforts to diversify the economy away from crude oil reliance amid global market volatility.

Monthly peaks exceeded ₦1.23 trillion in January and July, while April hit ₦1.22 trillion and December ₦1.11 trillion.

Mineral products dominated the export basket, followed by prepared foodstuffs and beverages (₦3.88 trillion), chemicals (₦3.37 trillion), vegetable products such as cocoa and sesame (₦1.54 trillion), and vehicles and parts (₦1.10 trillion).

Officials attributed the growth to improved policy support, enhanced market access, export incentives, streamlined customs procedures and targeted promotion by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.

Rising global demand for Nigerian solid minerals—including limestone, gypsum, kaolin, bitumen and lithium ores—linked to the energy transition, also played a key role.
