Rangers International of Enugu at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday came back to winning ways as they defeated Sporting Lagos Football Club two nil.
The Coach Fidelise Ilechukwu tutored side got their first goal at the tenth minute through skillful Austin Onyemaechi.
ANN reports that the visitors from Lagos pushed harder but could not convert their chances until Agu Kenachukwu who was introduced at the second half of the game converted 89th minutes penalty to seal the victory for the flying antelope.
Speaking in an interview after the game, Coach Paul Ofor of Sporting Lagos Football Club said his boys need to improve on their finishing touches.
“We failed in the two most important things in football which is scoring and not considing.
“When you don’t creat enough or take your chances, you cant win a game. We will go home and work on that.
” Our performance was okay and better than what we did against Abia Warriors but we need to improve in our final passes”. Ofor stated
Coach Ali Suleman of Rangers while answering questions from pressmen after the match commended the performance of the emEnugu based team.
” We prepared very well for this game and thank God we came out victorious. It was a must win match for us. The players followed and played according to instructions.
“Sporting Lagos are a very good team tactically, though they just got promoted from the NNL.
Speaking on Rangers next game, Coach Suleman said they are going to defeat Enyimba in Aba before Christmas.
Rangers International who have one outstanding game, are currently 10th at the table with 18 points after 13 games played, while Remo Stars and Lobi Stars are first and second respectively with 26 points each. Bayelsa United are bottom (20th)
