Heartland Football Club of Owerri are back to winning ways as they defeated Abia Warriors 2:0 at the Awka City Stadium in a tight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 25 oriental derby game.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that goals from Okafor and Mgbememe in the 20th and 24th minutes were enough to give Heartland its first win in Awka.
Speaking in an interview after the game, Coach of Heartland Mr. Christian Obi was full of joy and excitment stating that the jinx have been broken.
Heartland are currently 19th at the table with 23 points after 25 game while Abia Warriors are 10th with 34 points.
Heartland next game will be against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on the 17th of March after which they will host Enugu Rangers in Awka on the 24th.
