NPFL: Plateau United Humiliate Heartland FC In Awka Stadium

Former Champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Plateau United of Jos on Wednesday  outplayed Heartland FC of Owerri in matchday 22 at the Awka City Stadium.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Jos based Football Club had Doyeni, Agbor, Nenrot and Ebah at the score sheet while Okafor got the consolation goal for the Owerri based football club in a game that ended 5:1.

Plateau Uniteds are at currently at the second position after 22 games with 38 points while Heartland are at the bottom of the table (20th) with 18 points.

Speaking in an interview after the game, Plateau United Coach Mbwas Mangut commended his boys for taking their chances. 

Mangut who was the former assistant Coach of Enugu Rangers said he is familar with Awka Stadium and that the early goals put Heartland under pressure.

“Heartland is a good team but after considing three goals at the firsthalf, we knew they were going to come out attacking in the second half and we took our chances”. Mangut said.

Heatland will host Sunshine stars on Sunday March 3rd at the Awka City Stadium while Plateau United welcomes Bendel Insurence in Jos.

Other results of matchday 22 games are; Sporty Lagos (2): Akwa United (1) Sunshine Stars (2): Lobi Stars (0). Enugu Rangers (1): Remo Stars (0). Bayelsa United (2): Doma United (0). Kastine United (3) : Kano Pillars (2). while the game between Rivers United vs Niger Tornadoes was postponed.

On Thursday, Shooting Stars will host Bendel Insurance, Enyimba welcomes Gombe United while Abia Warriors tackles  Kwara United.
