NSCDC, KDI Collaborate For Peaceful Anambra Gubernatorial Election

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) have agreed to strengthen institutional collaboration on election security and monitoring to mitigate violence and enhance pre- election intelligence ahead of Anambra State governorship election slated for Saturday November 8, 2025.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the duo made the pledge when Commandant Maku Olatunde, the Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC, received on an advocacy visit delegation from Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization led by Oluwafemi John Adebanjo, Head of Research and Strategy, at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, Awka.

Commandant Maku, represented by Deputy Commandant Akaachia Godwin, Head of Administration lauded KDI’s advocacy visit stating that reliable data on election monitoring from independent organizations like KDI would mitigate the risk of violence.

The NSCDC State helmsman promised to leverage on KDI collation feedback from its security assessments of key aspects of the country’s electoral processes to advance electoral security in the forthcoming Anambra Election.

” The NSCDC recognizes the value of partnering with Organisation like KDI, which plays a pivotal role in developing early warning systems and furnishing information that aids in preventing election-related violence. KDI’s contributions to supporting electoral stakeholders have rendered collaboration essential, especially in the lead-up to the Anambra State Governorship election”. Maku said.

Earlier, KDI Head of Research and Strategy, Oluwafemi John, said KDI remained committed to supporting credible elections and promoting accountability in Nigeria’s political process.

According to him, KDI has continued to support security agencies through its Election Security Risk Assessment (ESRA) methodology and Early Warning System, both of which are designed to mitigate violence and enhance pre-polls analysis .

He solicited the support of the NSCDC in achieving these objectives, emphasizing the importance of enhanced collaboration between the NSCDC and KDI to achieve shared collective goals.

A highlight of the visit was the presentation of a report on key findings from KDI’s monitoring of the 2024 Edo and Ondo governorship elections to the State Commandant.
