The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and the Nigeria Police Force have agreed to sustain continuous collaboration and operational synergy in Anambra State.
This resolution was reached on Friday, August 21, 2026, during a courtesy visit by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, to Commandant Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Anambra State Command at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, Awka.
In his remarks, the NSCDC State Commandant, Maku, commended CP Nnanna’s visit to the Command, noting that it was a significant step toward strengthening the existing relationship between the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
He highlighted the importance of maintaining effective communication and strengthening operational coordination and reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining inter-agency collaboration through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and coordinated strategies to combat crimes, criminalities and other emerging security threats in the state.
Commandant Maku underlined the significance of sustained synergy among security agencies in the fight against vandalism, terrorism, illegal mining, adulteration of petroleum products, insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality in the country. He noted that effective collaboration, timely sharing of credible information and coordinated operations remain essential to maintaining peace and security in Anambra State.
He assured the CP of strengthened and more effective collaboration and a close working relationship, particularly in ensuring maximum security and safety for Anambra residents.
“While I welcome you to Anambra State, may I remind us that nobody is an island. Where one’s knowledge and experience stops, that of the other person starts. That is why we need to come together to become stronger and better,” he said.
He wished the CP well in his tour of duty in Anambra, saying, “Though the task ahead is arduous, I am certain that you are equal to the task, going by your track record.”
In his speech, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, while appreciating the NSCDC State Commandant for receiving him and his entourage, said the essence of the visit was to formally introduce himself and foster better coordination and eliminate possible friction between the operational teams of both law enforcement agencies.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the existing co- ownership between the NSCDC and the Police in combating crimes in Anambra State. He also solicited the continued support and cooperation of the Corps, stressing that sustained collaboration among security agencies is essential to creating a safer and crime-free Anambra State.
“The strength of law enforcement lies in synergy and strategic collaboration at different levels to effectively deal with crime,” he stated.
