Commenting on the circumstances surrounding the  boy’s deviant behavior, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, Anambra State Command, Olatunde Maku advised parents / guardians not to  practice authoritarian, permissive and neglectful style of parenting but rather adopt parenting of a child with love and understanding.

“Parenting is not an easy job, it involves  responsibilities that seem to change every day. The daily tasks and roles one perform as a parent are bound to change as the child gets older.

“Parents should adapt the parenting of a child with love and understanding, without  unnecessary display of authority over their children which instills fear in them to always run away from home” he said.

Deputy Commandant, Reuben Dennis, the Head of Investigation and intelligence Department, after interviewing the boy  urged parents/guardians to be vigilant and monitor the movement of their children as well as the people they associate with in order not to fall victim to abduction, trafficking, kidnapping and other emerging social vices.
