NSCDC Vows To Scale-up Security In Anambra Schools

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe school environment for all schools in Anambra State.

Comdt. Maku Olatunde, the Anambra State NSCDC Commandant stated this on Thursday, 23rd May, 2024 while on a familiarization visit to  the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Awka, to collaborate on disseminating information related to safety in schools.

Represented by Deputy Commandant Francis Nnadi,  Comdt. Maku emphasized the need for collective effort to ensure total safety in schools and increase security awareness among children. 

He described ABS as a major stakeholder in disseminating vital information to the public through media airing, jingles, and live programs.

Assistant Commandant Uche Okafor, the Safe School coordinator said the federal government set up the safe school programme with the NSCDC as the lead agency to ensure the safety of both students, teachers and infrastructure in schools throughout the country.

Okafor called on ABS management to partner NSCDC in promoting safety tips and best practices to students, teachers, parents and host communities through wider transmission of NSCDC dedicated programmes to members of the public.

Responding, Mr. Chido Obidiegwu, the ABS Managing Director, commended the corps’ proactive approach and pledged support for the safe school project.
