Call for X-ray on the 4 years Service by Chris Aburime as Press Secretary to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo*
Members of the Anambra Media Community united together by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Anambra State Council are kindly invited to review the four (4) years services of stewardship by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Chris Aburime, a pastor as claimed in the beginning of his assumption of office.
After due diligence, the NUJ Secretariat Anambra State council is of the opinion that a new competent Press Secretary from Anambra and if possible from journalists in Anambra should be considered and appointed for the interest of the journalists both the members of the fourth Estate and fifth estate, as Chris Aburime has failed journalists woefully. He has never protected the interest of Journalists but frustrated it aside from a few henchmen.
For instance, out of the 48 months in 4 years, he only paid stipends approved by the government to a select few from a long list and the ones paid got 4 months, others 6 months and maybe others 8 months or so in 48 months.
Her Excellency’s media team were to say the least exceptional even though they didn’t consider the union as a body in most of their dealings, we commend their timelines, dexterity and visibility.
He created and sponsored crises among journalists to ensure no voice is heard and the Government didn’t see the media in four years while Government was holding tete a tete with other organizations.
Your valuable input is important in ensuring that the review process reflects the collective interests and welfare of Journalists within the state.
Please take time to carefully present how Aburime messed the media space in Anambra up in the last four years including denial of entitlements, late press releases. denial of access to information among others particularly the frustration of Government House press corps and some Correpondents etc.
Don’t write about Adichie, Maazi Ejimofor and others for now please.
Don’t publish publicly.Send to the union Secretary if you are not comfortable sending to the NUJ platform.
But, copy to Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD JP, the NUJ chairman.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD JP
Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Anambra State Council.
