The office of Distinguished Senator Ned Munir Nwoko released a public statement, confirming that his wife, Actress Regina Nwoko, popularly known as Regina Daniels, was hospitalized after a “troubling drug overdose” on October 3.
The statement, released following the circulation of private medical reports, detailed Regina Daniels’ critical condition upon her arrival at Nizamiya Hospital, adding that doctors there had “deeply alarming” concerns about drug levels in her system.
The medical records, which were not officially published by the family but which the senator’s office did not deny, reportedly confirm the presence of marijuana, cocaine, opiates at extremely elevated levels, and alcohol at a critically dangerous level.
The statement stressed that Daniels’ actions had made “effective treatment impossible” and that his public persistence in her rehabilitation was due to his daughter’s vulnerability.
”His determination comes from the clear reality that several of Regina’s recent decisions are not coming from a stable and healthy frame of mind,” the statement read. “She is vulnerable, unprotected, and exposed to individuals who exploit her for personal gain.”

Cites Interference, Addresses Critics
The statement also challenged reports about the difficulties at the rehabilitation centre, which included “persistent interference from her siblings.”
The family’s communication team asserted that past attempts to help Regina Daniels failed, but the senator remained dedicated to her recovery.
”The reports are authentic,” the statement clarified. “The hospitals and rehabilitation centres did not leak them. The findings speak for themselves. Regina needs consistent treatment, support, and protection. Not denial, not interference, and not enabling.”
The office concluded its statement with a plea for the public and the media to support Regina Daniels’ difficult journey to sobriety.
”Distinguished Senator is genuinely and deeply concerned,” the statement said. “His tone, his actions, and his persistence all reflect a man who wants Regina to recover, to be safe, to be clear minded, and to be present for her two young sons.”
