Obinabo Appeals For Synergy With Anambra Monarchs To Curb Gender-Based-Violence

Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children’s Affairs, Honourable Ify Obinabo, has passionately appealed to traditional rulers in the state to support the bold steps Governor Soludo’s administration has initiated towards Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention in their various communities.

Hon. Obinabo made the appeal during a three-day refresher training on transformative GBV prevention programming for members of the Anambra State Multi-Stakeholders Action Committee on Gender-Based Violence Prevention (MAP-GBV) in Awka.

Commissioner Obinabo expressed confidence that with the capacity of the committee members and the knowledge they will garner at the end of the training, GBV will be drastically reduced in the state.

The Commissioner applauded ActionAid Nigeria for its commitment to building the capacity of members for effective service delivery.

In his address, the Project Advisor of the MAP-GBV Project, ActionAid Nigeria, Mr. Ademola Adeniran, who called for all hands to be on deck for maximum desired results, appreciated Commissioner Obinabo on behalf of ActionAid Nigeria for her immeasurable support and contributions.

In his speech, the State Chairman of MAP-GBV, who is also the traditional ruler of Orumbanasa Community in Anambra West Local Government Area, Igwe Pius Omachonu, made a case for the provision of office space for the committee at the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, since the project is domiciled there.
