Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade has commenced full enforcement of all Anambra environmental laws across the state.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the move was announced during the command’s first muster parade and headcount for 2026.
On internal discipline, the OCHA Brigade condemned unprofessional conduct, particularly extortion of market women and traders, and reaffirmed zero tolerance for such acts, with monitoring and intelligence units mandated to act on credible reports, including immediate dismissal of any personnel found culpable.
ANN gathered that under the enforcement, all public and private buildings without functional catchment pits, drainage systems or approved stormwater control measures will attract strict penalties.
Indiscriminate dumping of refuse on roads, expressways or into drainages will lead to arrest, prosecution and fines.
The disposal of sachet water nylons, PET bottles, plastics or any waste outside designated litter points is prohibited.
Landlords, shop owners, car wash operators and restaurant owners have been warned against channeling waste water onto roads and streets, described as unhygienic and harmful to residents and the environment.
Offenders, according to officials, will be fined and prosecuted in line with the law.
At the event, personnel were urged to demonstrate commitment and professionalism in recognition of the administration’s reforms and welfare improvements under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, just as the agency also reiterated its stance against ghost workers.
