The President-General of Ogbunka Development Union in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Jude Chukwubueze, has banned youth activities in the community till further notice.
Angel Network News reports that the ban came Following violent disruption of election of the youth association by some members of the group.

Chief Chukwubueze said the ban is part of measures to restore law and order in the community, and called on relevant authorities and groups in the community, to support the effort and set Ogbunka on the path of sustainable development.
Narrating what happened at Ogbunka Civic Centre, venue of the failed election, the President-General of Ogbunka, who was whisked away for safety from the election venue when it degenerated into a free for all, noted that the exercise was approved by the Anambra State Ministry of Youth Empowerment to hold between 19th and 23rd January 2024, and had in attendance over one thousand youths, but was violently disrupted by miscreants he said are loyal to some individuals in the community.
He said with the success of the group in disrupting the election, and to avoid further breakdown of law and order, the executive of Ogbunka Development Union were consulted and they gave him support to exercise power in banning youth activities in the community pending when the centre is able to hold.
Chief Chukwubueze described the unfortunate incident as an offshoot of existing problem that arose from noncompliance to due process in choosing people for highly placed positions in the community, and called on relevant authorities to be fair to the community by helping it enthrone law and order.
Highlighting the importance of youth body in moving the community forward, the President-General called on the youths to join efforts with Ogbunka stakeholders and philanthropists in ensuring that over 300 of them are produced as graduates on yearly basis; as part of efforts to develop human capital of the community, adding that in support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s youth empowerment and human capital development programme, he is offering “1 Youth, 3 Skills” opportunity, in addition to boosting commerce, industry and agriculture in the area to enable him achieve the target of producing 300 millionaires before the end of his tenure.
Commending Governor Soludo for the ongoing road projects in the community, Chief Chukwubueze restated that Ogbunka community is one of the highest beneficiaries of the Soludo administration, but appealed for restoration of order in the community.
In their various contributions on the failed election, the Treasurer of Ogbunka Development Union, Chief Felix Ike, and Mr. Elochukwu Okoli who was injured during the exercise, appealed to the government to ensure that there is law and order across board in the community, and called on youths to see the peace, unity and progress of Ogbunka community as a collective responsibility.
