Veteran actress Joke Silva has opened up about the advantages of marrying an older partner, saying it allows one to “get away with a lot of things,” in a recent television appearance.
Speaking on the TVC programme “Your View” on March 2, Silva, 64, reflected on her 39-year marriage to fellow actor Olu Jacobs, who is 20 years her senior. The couple tied the knot in 1985 when she was 24 and he was 44, and they have two children together.
Silva recounted meeting Jacobs on a movie set, describing it as love at first sight for him, though not initially for her.
“We got along very well,” she said, adding that she only learned his true age after they began dating, as he appeared much younger.
The discussion focused on their enduring relationship, with Silva highlighting the flexibility that comes with an older spouse: “This older men allows you to get away with a lot of things.”
